Ever had someone stop you dead in your tracks with a few strong words?
I have! You see, a friend sat me down and gave me some good advice... "stop this continual cycle John of stripping down and starting again. You need to continually build upon your efforts little by little and it does take time. Keep doing the right thing more time than not and the results will come. Give up the quick fix diet or intensity... you need to slow down and build upon your…

Whether you or your partner initiated the separation, breaking up is never an easy thing to do, especially when there are children involved. Even if it was your decision, and you know it is the right thing to do, you will still feel a range of emotions that can be difficult to deal with.
Take a look at our checklist which outlines the most common emotional stages you will experience. Remember that you are not crazy or weak to be feeling this way.…

Felt inspired today as I read that God promises never to allow "more on you than he puts within you to handle it".
Gives me that feeling of wanting to Get up, Go on, Press forward and Push beyond. To put on the helmet of salvation and take up the sword of the spirit to stand firm against temptation.
"God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not…

I had an interesting moment last night. I explained to my wife (in a conversation - not a whinge) that I often don't get around to doing many of the things I'd like to to (e.g. reading, extra sports etc) because I feel that it's more important to hang out with her and our daughter. She said, "I'd rather you go and do more recreation so you can be healthy. You already spend heaps of time with us."
Obviously I was surprised because it's so easy as men to think that our wives…

What a rippa of a day - Australia Day - to get some fairdinkum learning from today's reading.
Certainly flipped the penny for me on temptation and how to respond. It really is great news that on our path to spiritual maturity, temptation becomes a stepping-stone rather than a stumbling block when you know how.
"God bless the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." James…

Gidday men. I have just loaded two of the videos from Big Shed day 2011. Have a listen to Gerry Gale and Billy Hunter. Even if you were there on the day, it is great to have a listen to these champion blokes again. Relive the footy action in Billy Hunter Part 2. It will bring back memories of a fantastic day. Big reading day with so much to digest and get your head around.
In fact, I really do believe that I am being transformed by trouble. It takes a great deal of courage and commitment to truly believe that everything is for my good. I find those words jumping to my lips again, "I believe, help me Lord with my unbelief."
You think about it. Absolutely everything. Everything that happens to you has a spiritual significance. Everything!
"And we know that God causes…
